A pop star in the making…
Hailing from Texas, LA-based independent artist KC Star got his start by posting covers on his Soundcloud back in 2017, amassing over 150k plays today. He now writes, records, and produces his own original music inspired by his favorite pop stars like Kesha, Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Dua Lipa. His sound is rooted in pop with influences of electronic/synth music, alternative, and rap.
KC Star has released seven EPs to date: Colors (2019), Changes (2019), Crushes (2020), Get There (2021), Solo Karaoke (2021), BOYS SUCK! (2022), and THE MIXTAPE, VOL. 1 (2023).
Thematically, the first trilogy of EPs explores the exhilarating ups and downs of life, authentically embracing transformation, and all the complex, fluctuating feelings that come with a crush, respectively. Get There is a project all about the electricity of life, at a time when it feels like it has gone missing, and Solo Karaoke is about the idea of falling in love and learning to fall in love with yourself. BOYS SUCK! explores heartbreak through anger, revenge, and a rock sound, while THE MIXTAPE, VOL. 1 taps into KC’s hip-hop side, with rapid freestyles and tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
As KC Star starts to solidify his voice and sound as an artist, his music puts the rising star's versatility and growing confidence on full display. He's dreamt of being a pop star since he was a kid; now he's making that dream come true.
